 RE'EQUIL HAIR FALL CONTROL SHAMPOO

Hello, my beauty geeks!! Many of you have been asking me to do a shampoo review so here we are discussing the RE'EQUIL HAIR FALL CONTROL SHAMPOO. Hairfall is an issue we've all faced at some point in our lives and our first instinct is 'my shampoo's not good... it's causing my hair to fall' but can a shampoo really solve all your hair fall issues? Can a hair-fall control shampoo really 'prevent' hair fall? Keep reading to find out more. ðŸ˜˜

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Shampoos for hairfall, Re'equil Hairfall Control Shampoo

Product Type
- Haircare - Shampoo

Brand - Re'equil, India

Product Name - Re'equil hair fall control shampoo with Indian Cress and Watercress extracts for all hair types

Price - Rs. 450 (as on the packaging) for 250ml (8.45 fl.oz.)

Shelf life - 24 months from the date of manufacturing

Claims about the brand - No parabens, no mineral oils, no sulphates, no silicones, Dermatologically tested, clinically proven actives.

Product Story- Fine and thinning hair require a mild, gentle and specialised cleanser that strengthens the hair fibres and arrests hair fall. Hair goes through a normal cycle of growth ad shedding. When new hair fails to replace the fallen hair, hair loss becomes apparent with low density and volume. This situation can be progressive in nature and the speed of progression can vary from person to person. Upon self-detection of early signs of premature hair loss, timely action should be taken.

Product Claims - Provides mild cleansing action with clinically proven organic extracts and comes loaded with vitamin B3, Pro-Vitamin B5 and vitamin B7. It lends an anti-ageing effect on hair while strengthening hair from the roots. Removes residue build-up like silicones.

Ingredients (as it says on the packaging) Aqua, C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Decyl Glucoside, Coco-Glucoside, Dexpanthenol, Polyquartenium 7, Glyceryl Oleate, Biotin, Niacinamide, Nasturtium officinale Extract, Tropaeolum majus Extract, Polyquartenium 22, Piroctone Olamine, PEG 120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Glycerin, Hydrolysed Wheat Proteins, Glycol Monostearate, Disodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance, C.I. 45100, C.I. 42090

  MY THOUGHTS ON THE PRODUCT

It comes in a standard white bottle sealed with plastic but no outer box packaging. It does not have any re-filling option and neither the packaging is recycled. The shampoo has a pink colour with a pearl-like sheen finish to it. The fragrance is not overpowering or strong but folks with sensitive skin might not enjoy it. The consistency is quite watery but forms rich, creamy foams pretty easily.

Now coming to the most awaited part of the review, the claims, does it really help with hair loss? Before coming to that, let me cover the other points first. It claims to be a mild cleanser but it leaves my scalp feeling 'squeaky clean' which might be too drying for some people but works just fine for me. Even though it feels like it is over-cleansing the scalp, it is not drying at all (thanks to the hydrolysed wheat protein) and it is quite on the contrary. It leaves my roots soft, smooth and breezy. It is quite hydrating, easy to rinse and does what it claims i.e. cleanse. It does get rid of residue and oil build-up pretty fast (no doubt it does given its choice of surfactants) but does not leave the scalp dehydrated. It claims to contain Vitamin B3, B5 and B7 which it does in the form of niacinamide, dexpanthenol (pro-vitamin B5) and biotin. It claims to have an anti-ageing effect which is quite confusing because generally, aged hair means grey hair. However, from a hair thinning point of view, hair ageing can mean thinning of hair follicles which leads to dropping out of the hair fibre and never reverting again. It does contain fragrance and a harsh surfactant which is balanced by other mild surfactants so should not be a problem for the majority of us but if you're highly sensitive to fragrance, you might want to stay away.

Now before coming to the hair fall control claims, let me point out a few things first.

Shampoo for hair loss

Firstly, hair fall is a complex phenomenon. There are several reasons that can potentially lead to hair fall like stress, heat and sun damage, vitamin deficiencies, poor diet and lifestyle choices, genetics, hormonal changes, dandruff, scalp infections and many more.

Secondly, can we expect a shampoo to do the job of literally fighting all of the above-mentioned reasons? Sorry to burst your bubble, but not really. A shampoo alone can never solve all your hair loss problems (the brand is transparent regarding it and mentions it clearly on their website, so kudos to them) because the cause is not the same for the majority of us. Shampoos are on our scalps for just a few minutes. This time is not enough for the actives to actually penetrate inside and do something. So, it'd be wrong of us to have such high expectations from something that's not even staying up there for a longer time. Also, the concentration of the actives in the shampoo is not enough to potentially make a difference.

This shampoo claims to contain watercress and Indian cress extracts. Are these two extracts are clinically proven natural plant extracts to control chronic hair loss? Yes, they are. Does that mean it will completely resolve your hair fall issues if they're included in your shampoo formulation? Not necessarily. Just because two extracts are proven to help with hair loss doesn't mean they will work the same in a formulation because there are many varying factors like the pH and their interaction with other ingredients of the formulation etc.

Shampoos for hairfall, Re'equil Hairfall Control Shampoo
So, does that mean hair fall control shampoos are just market gimmicks? Well, most of them are. Generally, hair fall is not even a problem in most cases but it becomes a problem when hair is not growing back. We're just so much used to using the term 'hair fall' that losing 20 - 30 strands a day feels like a lot. If you are facing serious hair loss problems (more than 100-150 strands a day and hair is not growing back leading to bald spots) then it would the best to see a dermatologist and get some blood tests done instead of looking for shampoos that can help with hair loss because as I mentioned earlier, hair loss could be caused due to several underlying factors and reaching the core cause is the only genuine solution of the problem.

If it does not help with hair fall, does it cause hair fall? I can understand the frustration of buying something hoping it'd help with a particular problem but it doesn't, but imagine if it made the problem even worse (that'd be a nightmare) but luckily it does not. It does not contain anything that can cause or increase your scalp problems. It even contains Piroctone Olamine which is well known for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It helps with scalp infections that cause dandruff thus promoting a healthy scalp. So, if the reason for your hair fall is scalp infections, this might work for you as a hair fall control shampoo after all.

The brand claims it strengthens the roots and supports healthy hair growth which it does. It contains skin barrier protecting ingredients that work in the same way for our scalp and promotes a healthy scalp.

I've been using this particular hair cleanser for over two years now not because it helps with hair fall but because it does what it says, the brand is transparent about it and it's much better than the drugstore ones.

In conclusion, it cleanses really well, leaves my hair soft and manageable, did not cause excessive hair fall and smells nice but the fragrance is not lingering. So overall, it's a pretty good shampoo if you're looking for a gentle cleanser that does what it's supposed to do i.e. cleanse but might not be your best friend if you're betting your life on it for your hair loss problems.

So, the RE'EQUIL HAIR FALL CONTROL SHAMPOO is SKINCHEM reviewed and SKINCHEM approved

DO PARABENS REALLY CAUSE CANCER? - SKINCHEM SCIENCES- MYTH OR FACT?

DO PARABENS REALLY DESERVE THE HATRED THAT THEY GET IN THE BEAUTY AND PERSONAL CARE INDUSTRY?  Is not the question that we ask ourselves when we're proudly using our paraben - one of the most hated and feared ingredients in the personal care industry - free products.  Let's take a deep dive into its origin, uses and composition to find out whether they really deserve the hatred. WHAT ARE PARABENS? Speaking from a chemistry point of view, parabens are a class of esters derived from para - hydroxybenzoic acid. These are colourless, odourless and crystalline solids with satisfactory solubility in water. Speaking from a cosmetic use point of view, they are preservatives i.e. they protect our cosmetic products from microbes. Every time your moisturizer (or makeup or shampoos, or lotion or toothpaste .. literally any product that's packaged) comes in contact with air or you touch it, it is exposed to several micro-organisms like bacterias, fungi etc. The products need some sort o
